DynaBunion 4D Minimal Incision Bunion CorrectionBay Area Orthopaedic Specialists is proud to announce that Ronald D. Troxell, DPM has performed the first 4-D minimal-incision DynaBunion™ Surgery in the Tampa Bay Area.

The 4-D minimal-incision Lapidus System for surgical bunion repair enables surgeons to restore normal foot anatomy by realigning the bones in four different dimensions through smaller incisions. “Patients can look forward to less pain and scarring thanks to a smaller incision. Due to the enhanced stability, patients are able to begin walking in nearly half the time of typical bunion surgery.” said Dr. Troxell.

David Braun MD announces his certification for the new Mako Total Knee, Partial Knee and Total Hip Replacement

Mako Total KneeThrough CT-based, 3D modeling of bone anatomy, surgeons can use the Mako System to create a personalized surgical plan and identify the implant size, orientation and alignment based on each patient’s unique anatomy. The Mako System also enables surgeons to modify the surgical plan intra-operatively and assists the surgeon in executing bone resections. By selectively targeting only the part of the knee damaged by osteoarthritis, surgeons can resurface the diseased portion of the knee while helping to spare the healthy bone and ligaments surrounding the knee joint. Studies have shown robotic-arm assisted partial knee replacement to be two to three times more accurate than manual partial knee replacement procedures.

According to the National Institutes of Health, the demand for joint replacements is expected to rise in the next decade. By 2030, total knee replacements in the United States are estimated to increase by 673 percent and primary total hip replacements are estimated to increase by 174 percent. “With Mako, I can provide each patient with a personalized surgical experience based on their specific diagnosis and anatomy,” said Dr Braun “It’s exciting to be able to offer this transformative technology to perform total knee, partial knee and hip replacements in our community.”
